Bruha: Filipino Street Food with a Mystical Twist

Bruha is Brighton’s best (and only) Filipino restaurant, serving up classic Filipino street food in the heart of the Lanes. The name meaning “witch” was inspired by Filipino folklore and a playful term used by the owner’s mother and friends while laughing together in the kitchen.

Creating a Logo and Visual Identity Rooted in Filipino Folklore

The goal was to create a logo that captured both the mystical iconography of Filipino folklore and the bold, vibrant colours found in their dishes. Deep purples, inspired by ube, a beloved Filipino delicacy, became a key element, mirroring the rich, moody aesthetic of the restaurant’s décor while celebrating the flavours at the heart of Bruha’s menu.
Beyond the branding, I also designed murals for the restaurant’s interior—an artistic celebration of Filipino folklore, drawing inspiration from classic stories and religious iconography to bring Bruha’s enchanting world to life.
